A significant protest took place on Saturday, October 5, outside the Ghana High Commission in London, as demonstrators rallied against illegal mining activities, commonly known as "galamsey," in Ghana.
Chanting slogans and holding placards, the protesters called for immediate action from the Ghanaian government to combat illegal mining operations, which have led to severe deforestation, water pollution, and displacement of local communities.
The demonstrators emphasised the urgent need for sustainable mining practices and stricter enforcement of environmental regulations.
They also called on the government to free detained Democracy Hub protesters.
