Black Queens coach Kim Lars Björkegren has insisted that they will win the final group game to qualify for the next round of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Ghana, who have made a return to the tournament for the first time since 2018, made a disappointing start to the tournament after suffering a 2-0 defeat against defending champions South Africa.
In their second Group C game, the Black Queens were held to a 1-1 draw on Friday at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
With the team now languishing in 3rd place with just a point after two games, Björkegren is aiming for a win in their final game on Monday. "We are still in the tournament.
We just need to win the last game [against Tanzania that also have one point following their 1-1 draw with defending champions South Africa]," pointed out Björkegren after the game against Mali.
