#OccupyJulorBiHouse: Sarkodie, KiDi, Black Sherif, Others slam ruling govt for arresting protestors

Majority of Ghanaian celebrities have taken to Twitter to condemn recent police arrests and reports of brutality against protestors at the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration, which unfolded on September 21, 2023.

The likes of Stonebwoy, Wendy Shay, Black Sherif, Kofi Kinaata, Kwesi Arthur, Medikal, Sarkodie, Mr.

Drew, and others have all added their voices to the injustice faced by peaceful protestors this morning.

A few hours ago, Ghanaian police apprehended 49 individuals linked to an unlawful assembly and a violation of the Public Order Act.

These arrests transpired in the vicinity of the Jubilee House and the 37 Military Hospital area.

The arrests and reports of brutality against protestors have ignited a firestorm on social media, with numerous Ghanaians expressing their dismay at the handling of the situation by the authorities.

Earlier on, Ghanaian media personality and news presenter at Metro TV, Bridget Otoo gave a detailed account of how she was manhandled by some police officers during the recent demonstation by some activists.

Activists organised the #OccupyJulorbiHouse (Julorbi, a corruption of Jubilee House, to wit ‘son of a thief’) today, September 21st 2023.

However, police officers broke up the protest and arrested those involved, most of whom were shipped to several police stations around the capital city.

Among the people who were arrested and manhandled was TV Presenter Bridget Otoo.

She also alleged that the police officers also stole the phones of some of the protestors.

Bridget revealed how her dress was ripped when she tried to save a young man from being snatched by some of the police officers for committing no crime.

Bridget Otoo expressed her disappointment over how the security officers handled the whole issue.
