Big change on the cards for Sassa social grant payments in November

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is reviewing its November social grant payment arrangements following the announcement that local government elections will be held on 4 November.

Grant beneficiaries are advised that payments will be made on the following dates: Older Persons Grant – Friday, 2 October 2026 Disability Grant – Monday, 5 October 2026 Children’s grants – Tuesday, 6 October 2026 Sassa grant amounts: Old Age Grant (60-74 years) and Disability Grant – R2 400 Old Age Grant (75 years and older) – R2 400 War Veterans Grant – R2 420 Care Dependency Grant – R2 400 Child Support Grant – R580 Foster Care Grant – R1 290 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant –November payment dates under review Sassa said the payment cycle was being reconsidered because the local government elections would take place on the same day the Older Persons Grant was originally scheduled to be paid.
