A GPL debut to remember for Nations FC

Nations FC have had a great debut season in the Ghana Premier League after booking their qualification from Zone Two of the Division One League.

The Kumasi-based side are just five points away from the top and have a chance of winning the coveted trophy with eight games to go.

Head coach, Kassim Mingle has been the unsung hero for Nations FC who together with Johnson Smith have made the club a force to reckon with tactically.

The unity and understanding between the two coaches have been key to their success story thus far.

“It is Hard training, dedication, discipline and motivation from the management and on top we the two coaches are mature.

Myself and my brother Johnson Smith, we are brothers already, we have worked at other clubs before so we understand each other,” he told Connect 97.1FM.

They have recorded key wins this season including their famous 1-0 away win against Asante Kotoko and the 1-0 away win to current league leaders Samartex.

Kassim Mingle indicated if the opportunity comes for them to win the league, they will not hesitate.

“Everyone playing the league has the ambition of winning it so If the opportunity comes, we will win the league.”

Asamoah Boateng Afriyie has been instrumental for Nations FC, netting 10 goals in the league and is just two goals away from the league’s top scorer, Stephen Amankona.

Nations will have Aduana Stars, Accra Hearts of Oak and Bechem United to deal with in their remaining matches and if they can get their hands on the Ghana Premier League title, these games will be crucial as they will be hoping to see Samartex drop points.

A debut to remember it is for Nations FC and they will keep writing their story in GOLD.
