Tunisian Football Federation in talks to appoint Djamel Belmadi as the new head coach

It’s four months since the Tunisian national team endured a horrible AFCON campaign in Ivory Coast.

In a group alongside Mali, South Africa and Namibia, Tunisia surprisingly finished bottom after losing 1-0 to Namibia in their opening game and drawing 1-1 and 0-0 against Mali and South Africa on MD2 and 3 respectively.

Soon after their exit, head coach Jalel Kadri resigned from his post as the head coach coach.

The Eagles of Carthage have been without a permanent coach since the departure of Kadri.

Montassar Louhichi is the caretaker manager as he oversaw Tunisia’s defeat against Croatia and win over New Zealand in the first international break after the AFCON 2023.

Per multiple reports from Tunisia and Algeria, Djamel Belmadi, the former head coach of the Algerian national team could become Tunisia’s new coach.

The Tunisian Football Federation wants to sign Djamel Belmadi as the new head coach after the 2019 AFCON-winning coach met their requirements.

Tunisia in June will host Equatorial Guinea in top of the top-of-the-table clash for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Rades.

Both teams have won their first two games and the winner of that clash will get an upper hand in the table.
