Small arms amnesty campaign boosts surrender, regularisation of weapons in Ashanti Region

The National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons says its amnesty campaign has contributed significantly to increased surrender and regularisation of small arms and light weapons in the Ashanti Region.

Mr Oduro said the response demonstrated the importance of sustained public education in encouraging responsible firearm ownership and reducing the circulation of illicit small arms and light weapons.

He said the Commission would continue to work with stakeholders and communities to prevent, combat and ultimately eradicate the proliferation of small arms and light weapons and related materials.
