Sai Bioenergy plans 1,500MW solar project in Savannah Region
Aug - 14 - 2026 , 09:57 1 minute read Sai Bioenergy Ghana Private Limited, in partnership with the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Secretariat (24H+ Authority), is developing a 1,500-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant with a 250-megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system at Buipe in the Central Gonja District in the Savannah Region.
The proposed development will be undertaken through two separate special purpose vehicles, with Sai Bioenergy Ghana Private Limited identified as the main project proponent.
The proposed project will also include a 1,000-tonne-per-day compressed biogas/liquefied bio-methane plant and plantations for Napier Grass and other energy crops.
