President unveils cenotaph in honour of late Defence Minister

President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled a cenotaph at the Ministry of Defence to honour the life, service and legacy of the former Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, who died in a military helicopter crash a year ago.
A bronze bust of the late Dr Edward Omane Boamah, former Defence Minister The Vice-President, in her capacity as Chairperson of the Armed Forces Council, also lit a candle after the President.
The solemn ceremony last Thursday was witnessed by the Vice-President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang; the Burkina Faso's Minister of State and Minister of War and Patriotic Defence, Major General Célestin Simporé, who represented Burkina Faso's President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré; party executives, the family of the late minister, members of the Council of State, members of the Judiciary, heads of the security services, traditional authorities and members of the diplomatic corps, among other dignitaries.
