Police intercept 11.8 tonnes of cocoa hidden beneath a load of plantain at Bunkpurugu, four arrested

The Ghana Police Service, in a statement posted on its social media page on August 11, 2026, said a patrol team intercepted the truck and arrested the four suspects.

The consignment, suspected to have been destined for neighbouring Togo through the Bunkpurugu-Togo border, was intercepted after the Police received information about a truck transporting cocoa under suspicious circumstances.

The Police said the truck, a Hyundai Rhino with registration number AS-3272-25, was loaded with plantain and cocoa and was heading towards the Togo border.
