NIA, IOM to begin special Ghana Card registration in border communities from July 13

The National Identification Authority (NIA), in partnership with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), will commence a special Ghana Card registration exercise for eligible Ghanaians living in selected communities along the Ghana-Burkina Faso border from Monday, July 13, to Thursday, August 6, 2026.

It noted that the special registration exercise forms part of efforts by the NIA and the IOM to expand access to the national identification system in border communities.

The Authority cautioned that providing false information during the registration process or assisting a non-Ghanaian to obtain a Ghana Card constitutes an offence punishable by law and may attract a fine, imprisonment or both.
