NCCE, UNFPA hold community outreach on adolescent health and gender-based violence

The outreach programme was held on July 2, 2026, at the Nsuta Main Market and Lorry Park The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and with support from Global Affairs Canada, has organised a community outreach programme in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region to educate residents on adolescent sexual and reproductive health and the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV).

Joyce Owusu Aboagye of the Ghana Health Service educated participants on adolescent sexual and reproductive health, while Chief Inspector Bright Dorman of DOVVSU discussed issues relating to gender-based violence and the legal protections available to victims.

The event focused on addressing misconceptions surrounding adolescent sexual and reproductive health, including myths related to family planning, while promoting gender equality and raising awareness about the causes and consequences of gender-based violence.
