Mother remanded for allegedly inflicting cutlass wounds on daughter

The Prosecutor, Inspector Matilda Osaah Buabeng, told the court, presided over by Abdul Majid Iliasu, that the complainant, Mr Gilbert Takyi, a nurse at St Francis Xavier Hospital, reported the matter to the Central North Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service after the child sought help from her school proprietress.

According to the Prosecutor, the child was reportedly driven out of the room around 0400 hours and later taken to St Francis Xavier Hospital, Assin Fosu, for treatment, after which a police medical report was submitted to DOVVSU.

Dissatisfied with the child’s responses, she allegedly assaulted her with a cane and a metal rod before using a cutlass to inflict further injuries.
