MoE to push numeracy reforms after national competition exposes gap

Isaac Atta Baah is the Head of the Science, Technology and Mathematics Unit The Ministry of Education has stated that it could scale up a nationwide numeracy programme after admitting that efforts to improve mathematics among basic school pupils have lagged reading interventions."I'm going to share this report with the Honourable Minister and the management of the Ministry of Education to expand this programme so that we can strengthen the numeracy level of children in this country," he stated.

Speaking to GhanaWeb on July 11, 2026, Head of the Science, Technology and Mathematics Unit and Foundation Learning at the Ministry of Education, Isaac Atta Baah, said the success of the programme had exposed a major gap in Ghana's education system.
