Military to secure James Town after waste cleanup to prevent illegal dumping, squatting

This comes as the government is preparing a major operation to evacuate the huge volumes of accumulated waste from James Town in Accra to the Adipa Waste Management Centre, an engineered landfill facility at Nsawam in the Eastern Region, with the military expected to play a key role in securing the area after the cleanup.

The military is expected to take charge of security at James Town following a planned government operation to evacuate the huge volumes of waste accumulated in the area.“After we've moved it out of the James Town area, the military will take responsibility for protecting that area and making sure that we don't bring back waste and also squatters don't stay on the land that we have cleared and create a mess again for us,” he said.
