Mandatory towing regime to begin in 2027 — Transport Minister

The government will introduce a mandatory towing regime in 2027 to remove broken-down and stationary vehicles from the roads and reduce crashes associated with them, the Minister of Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has announced.” It brought together transport and logistics stakeholders to deliberate the future of the country's transport infrastructure and the need for a safer, inclusive and sustainable transport system.

Mr Nikpe said the new system would open the towing sector to competition, with towing companies required to register with the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) before operating under the new regime.
