Mahama urges reforms to honour fallen helicopter victims

President John Dramani Mahama has called on leaders at every level of public service to honour the memory of the eight Ghanaians who perished in last year's military helicopter crash by building stronger institutions, improving safety standards and placing the welfare of public servants at the centre of governance.

Addressing the National Inter-Faith Memorial Service in Accra on Thursday, August 6, to commemorate the first anniversary of the tragedy, the President said the most enduring tribute the nation could pay to those who died was not the erection of monuments, but the pursuit of responsible leadership and meaningful institutional reforms.

According to him, the true legacy of the eight departed public servants would be realised only if Ghana emerged from the tragedy with stronger institutions, enhanced safety protocols and a renewed commitment to safeguarding those who dedicate their lives to public service.
