Featured Sep - 07 - 2026 , 16:48 1 minute read The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has disclosed that the government spent a total GH¢49,721,786 in the recent exercise to evacuate 1,964 Ghanaians from South Africa to Ghana.

Giving a breakdown at a press briefing in Accra Monday (September 7, 2026), Mr Ablakwa said GH¢38,835,512 went into chartered flights, tickets, ground transportation, feeding, hotel accommodation, medical and hospitalisation in South Africa.

Of the total amount, he said the government covered GH¢33,721,786, with businessman Ibrahim Mahama donating GH¢16 million through Engineers and Planners.
