Ghana Water loses nearly half of daily supply to theft and leakages – Adam Mutawakilu
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Water Limited, Adam Mutawakilu, has disclosed that the company is unable to account for nearly half of the water it produces daily due largely to illegal connections and leakages.
He said Ghana Water had intensified the replacement of old pipelines and strengthened its campaign against illegal connections to reduce losses and improve revenue collection.
According to him, illegal consumption accounts for about 78 per cent of the unaccounted-for water, while physical leakages constitute the remaining 22 per cent.
