Economist calls for reset of Civil Service to drive development 

Prof Godfred Bokpin Professor Godfred Alufar Bokpin, an economist, has called for a fundamental reset of Ghana’s Civil Service to improve public-sector efficiency and economic management.

Bokpin cautioned against political considerations influencing recruitment, promotion and retention in the public service, saying that could lead to less-qualified persons advising the Government on critical national matters.” He said the quality of Ghana’s public service had historically been closely linked to periods of economic progress, noting that the Civil Service was comparable to the best in the world before independence.
