Ayalolo contra-flow moves 8,000 passengers from Adenta to Accra on first day

The Ayalolo Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service moved about 8,000 passengers from Adenta to Accra between 0600 and 0800 hours on the first day of a new contra-flow arrangement introduced to ease peak-hour congestion.

Mr Awudu Dawuda, the Greater Accra Passenger Transport Executive (GAPTE) Managing Director, said the intervention had significantly reduced travel time on the Adenta-Accra corridor, with buses completing the journey in about 23 minutes, compared with the usual two-and-a-half hours.“This is the first time that we are having this intervention as a traffic management principle in easing congestion in Greater Accra,” he said.
