The Ghana Police Service has directed its Police Professional Standard Bureau (PPSB) to investigate the circumstances under which two democracy hub protesters were unlawfully detained for 48 hours.
In a statement issued on September 26, the police said officers found responsible for unlawfully keeping two of the protesters in custody for 48 hours will face the necessary disciplinary action.
The police also denied arresting a pregnant woman who was amongst the protesters.
In the case of the alleged pregnant woman who was reported to have been arrested, Gloria Vera Louise, the Police clarified that at the time of the arrest, there was no visible indication that she was pregnant. "Additionally, at no point during the arrest or subsequent interactions did the said suspect inform the Police of a pregnancy.
