The Sunyani East constituency will be one of the constituencies to watch in the December 7 general elections with three aspirants thus, the NPP, NDC and an independent candidate all making strong claims about winning the parliamentary seat.

The constituency was established in March 1989, by a legislative instrument (LI) 1473, with Sunyani as its administrative capital.

It shares boundaries with the Sunyani West Municipality to the north, Dormaa East District to the west, Asutifi South District to the south and Tano North District to the east.

The area has a population of 1,208,649, per the 2021 Population and Housing Census, with major communities such as Sunyani, Abesim, New Dormaa, Kotokrom, Yawhimkrom, Wawasua, Benu Nkwanta, Nkrankrom and Atronie.
