Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana Her Excellency Mrs.
Hajia Samira Bawumia is advocating for cleaner and environmentally friendly cooking technologies in the Country as the continuous usage of firewood would not only deplete our forests but also put the habitat of human beings at risk through negative climate change impacts.
The Second Lady of Ghana who is also a "Global Ambassador for Clean Cooking" is therefore calling on Ghanaians especially at our homes and schools to take advantage of Government's Cylinder Recycling Program to migrate from the usage of charcoal or firewood and adapt to the usage of LPG Gas or order safer, cheaper, healthier and sustainable energy solutions in our kitchens or cooking.
Addressing a gathering at the Nkoranza Technical Institute (NTI), in the Bono East Region where she joined the Energy Commission of Ghana, Nananom, Staff and Students to commission a newly constructed "Improved Cookstoves Kitchen" for the school, Hajia Samira Bawumiah revealed that according to the World Health Organization, over three (3) Billion People still cook using solid fuels resulting in respiratory diseases that claim over Four (4) Million lives annually which actions should be taken to remedy the situation. "This crisis cannot be ignored.
