Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has assured Ghanaians that facilities at the Accra Sports Stadium have seen notable improvements ahead of the Black Stars' World Cup qualifier against Mali.

The stadium last hosted a FIFA-sanctioned game in March, when Ghana defeated Chad 5-0 in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Ankrah explained that since then, significant upgrades have been made across the venue to ensure players, officials, and fans enjoy an enhanced experience. "The facility is ready…we still have minus a certain number [of seats] but beyond the Chad game, there is an improvement," he said. "The pitch, the stands, other parts of the stadium have had remarkable improvement and we will continue to adjust and improve and upgrade as we go along." The Black Stars face Mali at 19:00 GMT on Monday, September 8, in a clash that could prove decisive in Group I.

Ghana sits at the top of the table with 16 points after drawing 1-1 with Chad in N'Djamena, while Mali boosted their chances with a convincing 3-0 win over Comoros.
