Hearts of Oak coach Didi Dramani says Benjamin Asare's call-up to the Black Stars is a major positive for the club, even though they will miss their skipper in Friday's Democracy Cup clash against Great Olympics.
Asare is part of the Ghana squad preparing for Thursday's 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad in N'Djamena, which rules him out of the encounter at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Dramani maintains that while the goalkeeper's absence is significant, his national team duties reflect the strength of Hearts' setup and create opportunities for other players to step in. "For us, we prepared Benjamin to the best that we can, you know, to have that production to the national team.
That's a big plus for the club," Dramani said during Wednesday's pre-match press briefing. "Also, his space has been occupied by another person, and it gives everyone the opportunity to stand in when the opportunity comes." Dramani further noted that player absences are part of every football season, making it crucial that all members of the squad are well-prepared and ready when needed.
