Dennis Miracles Aboagye has slammed President John Dramani Mahama over the removal of Ghana's Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.

Mr Aboagye argued that the entire process bore the hallmarks of a premeditated political agenda. "This whole situation was premeditated," he said. "John Mahama himself said before that if he comes to power, he will remove all judges appointed by former President Akufo-Addo.

So what we are seeing today is no surprise." Mr Aboagye alleged that the president was directly involved in instigating the process that led to Justice Torkornoo's dismissal. "He reached out to people to file the petition against her, and then they set up a partisan committee to do the job," he claimed. "This is not how a democracy should work." He further warned that the precedent set by the removal was dangerous to Ghana's constitutional order. "What has happened is a troubling precedent," he stressed. "It dents the integrity of our democratic system and weakens public confidence in the judiciary," he said on Asempa FM monitored by Mynewsgh.com Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Related Topics:Feature Advertisement You may like A plane will fall down this September - Prophet Uche Mahama's comments misrepresent facts on Ofankor-Nsawam road - Asenso Boakye Money decides elections now - New Juaben South MP laments GRNMA leadership apologizes to health Minister over media attack NPP should've won Akwatia, but events took a different turn - Dr Asah-Asante IGP must act now - NPP to police over death threats from Sofo Azorka, Wahab NDC's goodwill increasing rapidly, NPP's declining - Dr.
