The Director of Legal Affairs for the (NPP), Gary Nimako Marfo, has alleged that the late Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia, Ernest Yaw Kumi, had planned to resign from Parliament due to frustration and fatigue.
According to Nimako, who was part of the late MP's legal team, Kumi passed away just six days after expressing his intention to vacate his seat in Parliament. "He told me he wanted to resign from Parliament.
He said he was tired because of the harassment he was facing in the constituency.
He wanted to resign and stay home. "…Six days after expressing his desire to resign, he died," Nimako revealed during a panel discussion on Joy News on September 2, 2025.
