The deputy director of elections for the , Rashid Tanko Computer, has denied assertions that his party deliberately fixed deplorable roads on election day in the Akwatia constituency as a means to hoodwink voters into voting for them.
His denial comes on the heels of allegations by some residents in the constituency that the governing party sent road construction equipment to parts of the constituency to reshape their roads to make them usable a few weeks before the September 2, 2025, by-election.
On the day of the election, multiple videos on both mainstream and social media captured moments a grader was busily levelling sections of the deplorable roads in some communities in the constituency.
However, Tanko Computer, in an interview on JoyNews, insisted that local authorities put the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) equipment to good use to improve the road network in the constituency for constituents.
