The Action People's Party (APP) has obtained a court injunction restraining the (EC) from conducting the Akwatia by-election scheduled for September 2, 2025.
The injunction, secured by the party's parliamentary candidate, David Ankomah, challenges his disqualification from the race. ' Ankomah argues that he met all eligibility requirements, including the submission of a valid tax clearance certificate but was unfairly barred from contesting.
In a writ filed at the High Court in Accra, the APP and its candidate accuse the of acting with "malice and fraud" in disqualifying him.
The plaintiffs are seeking a perpetual injunction to prevent any actions by the EC that may undermine Ankomah's candidacy or the interests of the party.
