Police in the Eastern South Region have arrested ten people and seized nine firearms in a series of security operations in Akwatia ahead of the by-election.

The weapons - eight pump-action guns and one locally made single-barrel gun - were recovered between August 22 and 23 through snap checks and targeted raids to curb illegal arms possession before the polls.

Among the arrests, police near St.

Dominic Hospital intercepted Bernard Kumi Ofosu with a pump-action gun and cartridges.
