The High Court in Obuasi has dismissed an election petition filed by former Minister of Trade and Industry, Kobina Tahiru Hammond, and has fined him GH¢60,000 for what it described as time-wasting.
The ruling, delivered on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, by Justice Kwabena Twumasi, followed Hammond's challenge to the election of Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi Dorani as Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa.
According to citinewsroom.com report on August 20, 2025, in the 2024 general elections, Hammond, who had represented the constituency for several terms, lost to Dorani by 954 votes.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate secured 14,229 votes against Hammond's 13,275.
