National Organiser of the (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has given a hint that the party will employ a self-defence mechanism to protect its members during the Akwatia by-election.
According to him, the need for the party to protect its members during the by-election at Akwatia, which is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025, has become imperative to ensure their safety.
It is worth noting that during the re-run of parliamentary elections in 19 polling stations in the Ablekuma North constituency, disturbing cases of electoral violence were recorded where the NPP has claimed that its members were heavily pummelled.
Speaking on the back of this in an interview with Citi FM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Nana Boakye asserted that the party will protect itself within the law but will not necessarily use thugs or vigilante groups.
