The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has fulfilled his pledge to take over the funding of the 47 medical students previously sponsored by the late Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
Abdul Ganiu Sandow and some members of the Haruna Institute, representing the minister, presented an amount of GH¢188,000 to some of the students to fund their tuition and other expenses, as captured on video and shared online.
According to them, the gesture from Haruna Iddrisu, who is also the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, is to eulogise the late minister and support the students in achieving their goals.
The representatives of the minister noted that the rest of the students who are currently on field work will be duly handed their receipts when school resumes.
