The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially confirmed Dr.
Tia Abdul-Kabiru Mahama as the party's parliamentary candidate for the Walewale Constituency in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
The decision was unanimously reached following the withdrawal of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, from the parliamentary race.
In a statement released by the NPP, the party expressed appreciation for the service of Hon.
Zuweira, who stepped down from the contest on September 10, 2024.
The party noted the respect and high regard it holds for her decision, which it described as a demonstration of loyalty to the party. "The party regards in high esteem, the decision of Hon.
Zuweira to bow out of the race and appeals to all stakeholders of the Walewale Constituency to offer their unflinching support to the candidacy of Dr Tia Abdul-Kabiru Mahama," the party stated.
