The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has called on the government to adjust the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate for football clubs to match the entertainment industry's 3% flat rate.

According to the GFA, the move would significantly boost club profitability, enabling them to invest more in player development, improve infrastructure, and meet licensing requirements.

It would also enhance the overall competitiveness of Ghanaian football, both domestically and internationally.

Currently, football clubs operate under a higher VAT rate, which the Association believes limits their financial capacity and long-term sustainability. "Aligning the VAT rate for football clubs with that of the entertainment sector will not only ease the financial burden on clubs but also stimulate growth and investment in our game," the GFA stated.
