Leicester City have been knocked out of the 2025/26 Carabao Cup after a 3-2 penalty shootout defeat to Huddersfield Town, with Ghana captain Jordan Ayew missing his spot-kick in the decisive stages.
The tie at the John Smith's Stadium ended 2-2 in regulation time, but Ayew's miss â the Foxes' first in the shootout â proved costly as Huddersfield held their nerve to advance.
Leicester, fresh from a 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in their EFL Championship opener, twice surrendered the lead during the match.
Ayew, renowned for his penalty-taking ability, was introduced in the 82nd minute for Patson Daka and featured for just nine minutes before the shootout.
