Accra is currently hosting the 2025 African Political Parties Summit, a three-day event bringing together political leaders and key stakeholders from over 30 countries across the continent.

On behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang warmly welcomed the delegates to Ghana's capital city. "This summit gathers sitting heads of state, ministers, former presidents, statesmen, academics, civil society, and global partners to dialogue on our vision as a continent," she said.

The summit aims to strengthen cooperation among African political parties through the African Political Parties Initiative (APPI), which will serve as a platform for dialogue, dispute resolution, and coordinated action to promote peace, unity, and prosperity across Africa.

Vice President Opoku Agyemang emphasized the summit's theme, "From Politics to Prosperity: Strengthening Inter-Party Collaboration for Africa's Development and Economic Transformation." She reminded participants that "politics must deliver concrete outcomes for our people, and not empty rhetoric." "We must rise above narrow interests, safeguard election stability, protect long-term development plans, and work together across borders to tackle the threats that affect our continent," she stressed.
