The National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced the suspension of nine radio stations across the country for violating broadcasting regulations. In a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the NCA explained that the action follows the expiration of a 30-day grace period granted by President John Dramani Mahama for defaulting stations to address their regulatory breaches.According to the regulator, six stations - Donplus Multimedia Limited (105.9 FM, Ho), Dreams Ghana Media Limited (104.9 FM, New Abirem), Jam Multimedia Limited (101.3 FM, Kintampo), Jewel Group Limited (102.7 FM, Duayaw Nkwanta), Kpandai Star Community Radio (107.3 FM, Kpandai), and Unique Gateway Communication Limited (105.7 FM, Nkawkaw) - failed to take any corrective action during the amnesty period, leading to the suspension of their operations.
The NCA further revealed that while several other stations worked to address their breaches, three outlets belonging to Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited continued to operate without meeting certain compliance requirements.
These included the unauthorised use of Studio-to-Transmitter Link (STL) frequencies and unapproved transmitter locations.
The affected stations are Wontumi Radio 95.9 FM in Accra, 101.3 FM in Kumasi, and 101.3 FM in Takoradi.
