In a statement issued on Monday, August 11, the committee described the accident as "a profound sorrow" and said it was important for the nation to come together in remembrance. "The Funeral Planning Committee extends a solemn invitation to all individuals, institutions, and the public to come together in remembrance and honour the lives of those we so sadly lost," the statement said.

Members of the public are encouraged to send messages of condolence and heartfelt tributes for inclusion in the official funeral brochure. "Please submit your tributes via email to: [email protected]," the statement added.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, 13 August, at 12:00 noon GMT.
