Member of Parliament for Gushegu, Hassan Tampuli, believes the death of the eight Ghanaians should give the president a reason to declare a state of emergency on illegal mining activities in the country.

Also, he is of the view that instead of amending the LI 246 (2), the president must revoke it entirely.

He holds the view that there has been too much talk about galamsey in the country, and now is the time to take decisive action that will help arrest the situation. "The best legacy that we can give to the memory of these fallen heroes, led by the president of the republic, is to revoke LI246 (2)-mining in forest reserves.

Secondly, the president should declare a state of emergency as soon as possible.
