Senior statesman, Ato Ahwoi, has paid tribute to the late Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, following the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
Speaking on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana on Friday, August 8, 2025, Ahwoi described Dr Boamah as one of the most brilliant people he had ever met.
He recounted how he convinced the late minister to join the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after initially serving in the New Patriotic Party (NPP). "I managed to convince Omane to join the NDC after I had been instructed by Professor Mills to recruit all past NUGS presidents.
He was then with the NPP and did not like the NDC, but he became very close to me, like a son", he said.
