The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has revealed that his long-standing relationship with late Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah played a significant role in his decision to accept an appointment from President John Dramani Mahama.

Professor Gyampo disclosed that Dr Omane Boamah's influence was a crucial factor in his eventual acceptance of the position.

In a heartfelt tribute, Prof Gyampo described Dr Omane Boamah as "a great strategist, very smart, very intelligent, very resilient...and above all, a human being." He expressed his deep sadness over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Dr Omane Boamah and seven others on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

According to Prof Gyampo, his relationship with Dr Omane Boamah was not just professional, but it was also personal.
