Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has expressed shock and deep sorrow over the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight people on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the Speaker said the incident has left him in 'unfathomable pain' and described the tragedy as a national loss. "The news of the helicopter crash that claimed the precious lives of Honourables Dr Omane Boamah, Dr Murtala Mohammed, Samuel Sarpong, and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, alongside career officers Aboagye, Addo, Ampadu, Anala and Mensah, have left me with unfathomable pain.

I am in ruthless pain, and our nation is in shock and distraught," he wrote.

Bagbin paid tribute to the deceased, describing them as heroes who were dedicated to the service of the country. "Without doubt, our fallen heroes demonstrated commitment to building our nation and had much more to offer and live for.
