The burial of Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna has been postponed as religious leaders and state officials await autopsy reports and investigative clearance following Wednesday's military helicopter crash.

Although Islamic tradition calls for burial within 24 hours, Deputy Roads Minister and Tamale North MP Alhassan Suhuyini explained that Islam allows for flexibility under extraordinary circumstances. "It would be worse to perform Islamic rituals on a body that is not an Islamic body," he said during a Joy FM interview, urging patience until investigations are concluded.

The crash at Adansi-Brofoyedu claimed eight lives, including Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and other high-ranking government and military officials, all en route to an anti-galamsey assignment in Obuasi.

A presidential task force and national funeral planning committee have been established to coordinate with bereaved families and ensure that both Islamic rites and state protocols are observed.
