As the nation continues to mourn the passing of Ghanaian music legend Daddy Lumba, a wave of public suggestions has emerged from entertainment pundits, musicians, and cultural commentators on how the icon should be laid to rest.

While some advocate for a state burial to honour his immense contribution to Ghana's music industry, others have called for his funeral to be held in Kumasi, citing his Ashanti roots in Nsuta.   Amid these conversations, the family of the late highlife maestro, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, has officially announced that a one-week memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in Accra.

The announcement was made via DL FM, the late singer's own radio station. The final funeral rites, however, will be held in Kumasi, with the date and venue yet to be confirmed.

The family explained that the decision to hold the funeral in Kumasi is tied to Daddy Lumba's deep Ashanti heritage. "He's a pure Ashanti," the family said, adding that they had paid a customary visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to inform him of the musician's passing.
