The Ghana Education Service (GES) has raised concerns about the alarming increase in cases of examination malpractices reported in the Ashanti Region.
According to the institution, over 70 out of the 144 Senior High Schools in the region were found to have engaged in examination malpractices after some of their papers were cancelled during the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Providing statistics to back the report, the Public Relations Officer for the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate, Henry Osei Boateng, said the GES arrived at this conclusion based on the number of cancelled exam papers from the region. "When you go round to spot examination malpractice itself, you may not be able to spot them easily while they're writing the exams.
However, we were able to detect widespread exam malpractice based on the scripts that were marked last year.
