The Ghana Education Service (GES) has stated that it has launched an investigation into the indefinite suspension of 25 students from Agona Swedru Senior High School (SHS), following a violent clash over an alleged same-sex relationship proposal on campus.

Speaking to the matter on Peace FM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Daniel Fenyi, confirmed the incident, stating that the affected students have since been sent home. "It happened yesterday and we quickly went there to obtain some initial briefing on the situation to engage the public.

We are still investigating it but the initial reports suggest that about 25 students are involved in the unfortunate situation," he said.

According to him, information gathered after a visit to the school indicates that some of the affected persons are final-year students sitting for the 2025 WASSCE.
