Member of for Ejisu Constituency, Kwabena Boateng, has bemoaned the increasing visibility of armed personnel in national security operations.
Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile programme on Saturday, August 2, 2025, Boateng stated that this militarised approach deviates from the original intent of Ghana's national security legislation.
He called for a fundamental reassessment of Ghana's national security priorities, stressing that the focus should be on intelligence gathering, research, and the welfare of citizens. "The worrying, emerging issues about national security-when you read the national security law, you do not see a group of weaponized people," he said. "Especially in modern times, when national security is about human security.
It is about research, it is about helping the government with intel; it is not about people holding guns," the Ejisu MP added.
