The of Ghana has passed the Social Protection Bill 2025 into law following its third reading on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the commencement of business.

The passage follows the consideration that ended on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Introduced by the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the bill establishes a legal framework to enhance social protection services for vulnerable Ghanaians, including persons with disabilities, the homeless, and those in chronic poverty.

It proposes a Social Protection Fund to finance programs like the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP), Ghana School Feeding Programme, and National Health Insurance Scheme exemptions, ensuring sustainable funding and improved coordination.
